My main scientific interest lies in community ecology, with a focus on understanding how species interactions shape community structure and stability. I am particularly interested in how ecological equilibria emerge from the interplay between species and their environment, and how these equilibria respond to natural and human-driven changes. I find it especially stimulating to explore whether human-made habitats can function as surrogate systems for conservation, and under which ecological and landscape conditions this is possible.Through field-based studies and community-level approaches, I aim to understand how changes in habitat configuration and land use cascade through bird communities, ultimately affecting their diversity, composition, and conservation.
