LEC - Lab for Ecology & Conservation

Dalla ricerca sul campo alle azioni di conservazione

A new episode of GEO, the television programme dedicated to nature, the environment and world cultures, hosted by Sveva Sagramola and Emanuele Biggi, aired on 30 October 2024 on Rai 3.

The episode focused on the Aeolian wall lizard (Podarcis raffonei), one of the most endangered reptile species in Europe. The programme explored the current conservation status of the species, the number of individuals remaining, and the actions being undertaken to prevent its extinction.

Key insights were provided by the European project LIFE EOLIZARD, co-financed by the LIFE Programme of the European Union, which aims to protect this exceptionally rare species. Guests in the studio included Leonardo Vignoli, ecologist and scientific coordinator of the LIFE EOLIZARD project, and Giulia Luzi, a forestry scientist.

The programme is in Italian.
