LEC - Lab for Ecology & Conservation

Dalla ricerca sul campo alle azioni di conservazione

On 6 October 2025, Prof. Leonardo Vignoli, Associate Professor of Zoology at the Department of Science, Roma Tre University, took part as a guest on the television programme GEO, broadcast on Rai 3, where he presented the European project LIFE EOLIZARD, for which he serves as scientific coordinator.

Funded by the LIFE Programme of the European Union, the project is dedicated to the conservation of the Aeolian wall lizard (Podarcis raffonei), considered one of the most endangered reptiles in Europe. Conservation actions include controlled breeding at the Bioparco di Roma and the subsequent reintroduction into the wild on selected islets of the Aeolian archipelago.

LIFE EOLIZARD combines scientific research, habitat protection measures, and community engagement activities, with the aim of safeguarding an emblematic species of Mediterranean biodiversity.
